Registration is closed for 2026-27 Night League

Night League is a community basketball league featuring over 1,500 players from clubs across Greater Victoria. Games are tiered and re-tiered throughout the season to ensure teams play opponents of similar ability levels, creating a fun and positive experience for players of all skill levels. The season runs from September to March. Includes use of a jersey or uniform that must be retuned at the end of the season.

Schedule

Practices

• One 1-hour team practice per week at an elementary school.
•  Scheduled on a Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday evening.
• Alternate practice nights may be available if regular practice night conflicts with a game time.

Games

• One 1-hour game per week at a middle or high school.
• Games may be scheduled any night between Monday and Friday and can change week to week.Game schedule is usually only released one week early.
• Game times:
  • U11 are usually before 8 pm.
  • U13 & U15 games are usually 7-8 pm or 8-9 pm.
  • U15 games may be as late as 9-10 pm.

All players register as individuals and are then placed onto teams by Carnarvon.

U11 (Grades 3-5)

• Team placements are primarily based on age, grade, and friend requests.
• There are no assessments for U11 players.
• Friend requests can be made at the time of registration.

U13 and U15 (Grades 6-9)

• Team placements are based on Assessments designed to find the best team fit for every player. Unlike traditional “tryouts,” no players are cut from Carnarvon Night League programming.
• Assessments help place players on teams where they will be appropriately challenged, supported, and able to enjoy the season. We consider factors such as basketball experience, skill development, athletic development, and player goals.
• While friend requests may still be considered at U13 and U15, only friends with similar skill-development, aggressiveness, competitiveness and athleticism will be placed on the same team. Friend and coach requests can be made by completing the online survey that will be emailed during the team formation process in early September.
• All U13 & U15 players are strongly encouraged to attend both Assessment sessions to “bust the rust.”  Players are expected to attend at least one session: 
  •  Saturday Sept. 12th, 2026, at Lansdowne Middle School - North Campus
    • 11 am - 1 pm: Players born in 2015 
    • 1-3 pm: Players born in 2014
    • 3-4 pm: Players born in 2013
    • 4-5 pm: Players born in 2012
  • Saturday Sept. 19th, 2026, at Lansdowne Middle School - North Campus
    • 11 am - 1 pm: Players born in 2015
    • 1-3 pm: Players born in 2014
    • 3-5 pm: Players born in 2012 and 2013
    •  If you cannot attend either Assessment session, please email carnarvonvpbasketball@gmail.com.
• What to bring to Assessments:
  • Your own basketball - size 6 (28.5") 
  • Large full water bottle
  • Clean Basketball shoes (recommended). No outdoor shoes.
  • Long hair must be tied back.
  • No jewelry (earrings, studs, watches, friendship bracelets, necklaces etc). Please remove these at home.

For Carnarvon Night League

• Full amount minus $75 administration fee if email notification provided before Sept. 1.
• 50% refund if email notification of withdrawal provided before September 6.
• No refunds after September 6, except for medical reasons or practice-night scheduling conflicts. For medical reasons, a doctor’s note must be provided.

For Carnarvon Skill Development Sessions

• Full amount minus $75 administration fee if email notification provided 48 hours before the first session.
• 50% refund if email notification provided within the first month.
• No refunds after the first month.

For Carnarvon Selects

• Full amount minus $75 administration fee if email notification is provided 48 hours before the first session.
• No refunds after the first session.

For Carnarvon Basketball Spirit Wear/ Fan Apparel

• No refunds at any time.
